FPRA TREASURE COAST CHAPTER’S JAN. 18 MEETING FOCUSES ON CRAFTING YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA IMAGE

 

The Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County's Kathy Basile Center for Training & Community Development, 546 NE University Blvd., Suite 201, with public relations professional Chris Gent ARP, CPRC, who will speak about the latest trends in social media.

In addition to offering tips on crafting you social media image on sites such as Facebook, Google+, Plaxo and others, Gent will provide an overview of the changes taking place with the FPRA Image Awards categories to better represent social media. The meeting will also offer advice and resources to anyone interested in applying this year to the FPRA Treasure Coast Image Awards.

Gent is vice president of corporate communications for Kissimmee Utility Authority. An FPRA member since 1994, he has served eight years on the FPRA State Board of Directors, including six years on the Executive Committee. Gent spearheaded the FPRA conference blog in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. He is a past president of the Orlando Area Chapter and received FPRA’s Doris Fleischman Award in 2001 and Member of the Year in 2011. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Central Florida and master’s degree in strategic public relations from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he graduated valedictorian in 2011.

The FPRA Treasure Coast Chapter invites all interested public relations and marketing practitioners to attend the Jan. 18 meeting. The cost is $17 for FPRA members and $22 for non-members and includes lunch. Reservations may be made online here.
